MECHANICAL/PIPING ESTIMATOR
JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Director of Maintenance and Major Projects, the Mechanical/Piping Estimator is responsible for ensuring the ability to carry out the requested work in accordance with established standards and within the approved budget.
TASKS
- Prepare kickoff meetings, risk analyses, pre-closing, and closing meetings for bids under their responsibility;
- Ensure a clear understanding of client expectations to assess the feasibility of the offer;
- Draft complete proposals for clients and respond to qualification requests;
- Perform quantity take-offs and estimate labor and prefabrication work;
- Prepare all necessary documentation for bid development and supplier price requests, in collaboration with the procurement department;
- Identify unfair clauses and equivalency opportunities and include them in the offer;
- Ensure all subcontracted work and lot interfaces are properly covered;
- Analyze discrepancies between the proposal and the awarded contract;
- Ensure that the budget and scheduling data are transferred to execution teams;
- Keep departmental tools and practices up to date and optimized;
- Conduct analyses on completed projects to gain a realistic view of the company’s production and capabilities;
- Perform any other related tasks.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education
- College diploma (DEC) in Construction Estimation and/or in a related field.
Experience and qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar role;
- Experience on construction sites;
- Ability to read plans and specifications;
- Knowledge of estimating software (Accubid is an asset);
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical and piping materials;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite;
- Excellent command of French, both spoken and written;
