Gastier Profile and History

Founded in 1971 by Berthier Pelletier, Gastier has always enjoyed a reputation for excellence and quality in the construction industry. We serve clients in the public, private and institutional sectors, including organizations such as the Palais des congrès de Montréal, the Caisse de dépôt et de placement du Québec, the Marcelle et Jean Coutu Pavilion, the Aluminerie Alouette, Shell Canada, Marsulex, PTT Canada, Parachem, Greenfield Ethanol, Pratt and Whitney Canada, and Bombardier.

Gastier does everything from simple service calls to major project execution, from modest budgets to extensive operational investments. We hold a specialized general contractor’s license that covers no fewer than 36 different work categories.

Gastier has been certified ISO 9000 since 1997. We approach every project with four main principles in mind:

On November 1, 2008, Les Gestions Gastier Inc. and our subsidiary Gastier M.P. Inc. were acquired by Simard-Beaudry Construction Inc. Robert Abdallah became company president and CEO on November 10, 2008. Gastier and J.V. Driver Corporation co-own GD Power Projects, which does electricity, instrumentation, controls and high-tension work in Alberta.

Gastier employs teams of multidisciplinary professionals working together to offer world-class service in procurement, construction, facility maintenance, and building and production equipment, to allow our clients to pursue their plans and improve their operations. We like to think of ourselves as partners in our clients’ success. Over the years, Gastier has become one of the major players in the following areas of construction activity:

  • Building:
    • Electricity, plumbing, heating
  • Light industry:
    • Electricity, instrumentation and controls, control panel design and production, mechanics and process piping
  • Heavy industry:
    • Electricity, instrumentation and controls, control panels, industrial mechanics and piping, boilermaking, insulation and asbestos removal.
  • Energy transmission
    • Construction and installation of high- and medium-tension energy transmission lines, and construction, maintenance and modifications of transformer stations

Besides the company’s technology and financial resources, the key to Gastier’s success over the years is above all in our capacity for innovation and in our staff’s dedication and commitment. As of July 18, 2008, Gastier had 9 employees with over 25 years of experience, and 35 employees with 15 years of experience. A number of of our job categories also have high average seniority levels:

  • Administration: 8.5 years
  • Project management, quotations and procurement: 7.5 years
  • Worksite supervision: 8.2 years

We have an inventory (tools, instruments and equipment) to meet the needs of our 1,000+ workers. This fully computerized inventory is tracked daily for complete control over tool location, maintenance cycles and calibration. Gastier also has a fleet of more than 100 vehicles specifically suited to our service needs.
